The company's wines have earned many awards and rave reviews from the wine press. For example, the company's 2005 Merlot just won First Place Overall (out of 613 wines) in the Seattle Wine Awards, and its 2005 Intrigue a Vintner's Honor award (as well as 90 points from Wine and Spirits magazine).

NW wines: A growing reputation


The Pacific Northwest has a latitude the same as the famous French wine growing regions. The moderate climate of the West Coast, plus cool nights and rich soils, let the NW wine-growing region produce some of the world's best wines. Washington and Oregon are the US's largest wine-producing states after California. Washington State has nearly 500 wineries and over 30,000 acres of wine grapes; Oregon, over 350 wineries on over 17,000 acres. In particular, Oregon is noted for varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah; Washington for Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and other reds, plus several whites.
