NW wines: A growing reputation
The Pacific Northwest has a latitude the same as the famous French wine growing regions. The moderate climate of the West Coast, plus cool nights and rich soils, let the NW wine-growing region produce some of the world's best wines. Washington and Oregon are the US's largest wine-producing states after California. Washington State has nearly 500 wineries and over 30,000 acres of wine grapes; Oregon, over 350 wineries on over 17,000 acres. In particular, Oregon is noted for varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah; Washington for Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and other reds, plus several whites.
The two states have many distinct wine-growing regions:
Washington: Yakima Valley, Walla Walla Valley, Columbia Valley, Puget Sound, Red Mountain, Columbia Gorge, Horse Heaven Hills, Wahluke Slope, and Rattlesnake Hills. Oregon: Willamette Valley, Chehalum Mountains, Yamhill-Carlton District, Ribbon Rodge, Dundee Hills, McMinnville, Eola-Amity Hills, Umpqua Valley, Red Hills Douglas County, Rogue Valley, Applegate Valley, Southern Oregon, Snake River Valley.

Santiago Queirolo
Country of Origin
Short overview
Following the success of Chilean and Argentinian wines come the next South American star of the wine scene: Peruvian wines from top winery Santiago Queirolo. Founded in 1880 by the Queirolo family from Genoa, Italy, Santiago Queirolo produces Peru's most popular varietals, demi-sweet, sweet, and sparkling wines, making full use of the warm, dry climate and excellent wine-growing soils of southern Peru. The unique combination of the region's terroir and Queirolo's expert craftsmanship makes for a remarkably soft, smooth-tasting wine that will appeal to younger wine drinkers as well as connoisseurs.
Product Information
Santiago Queirolo's vineyards make full use of the dry, warm climate in the south of Peru. Its Cañete Valley vineyards near the coast, with sandy and stony soil, and fresh winters, are mainly oriented to demi-sweet and sweet wines (varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Tannat). The vineyards in ICA Valley at the foot of the Andes mountains, with Franc and piedmont soils, and cold winter nights, are mainly oriented to varietals and reserve wines (varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Malbec, Chardonnay, Merlot, Petit Verdot).
Santiago Queirolo produces extremely popular award-winning wines. According to a 2007 poll by CCR International, Santiago Queirolo is by far the most popular wine brand in Peru, far outpacing competitors such as Tabernero, Tacama, Viña Ocucaje, Concha y Toro, Vista Alegre, E. Copello, Casillero del Diablo, and Navarro Correas.
In addition Queirolo produces Peru's most popular line of pisco, a wine brandy that is the national drink of Peru. (Survey by El Comercio, 2006).

- Challenge du Vin Burdeos, France: Medallas de Oro y Plata

From 2000 the company has undertaken a major renewal and expansion process that increased its Cañete Valley and ICA Valley vineyards from 100 Ha to more than 300 Ha, deployed modern technology to raise production capacity from 500 thousand liters to more than 4 million liters per year, and modernized administrative and operation systems.
